How Do You Know if Your Car Needs Vehicle Surface Correction?

If your paint looks dull in sunlight, has a spiderweb of fine scratches, or shows swirl marks after washing, it’s probably time for paint correction. You might also notice:

  • Water spots or bird droppings that left a mark
  • Hazy or uneven reflections
  • Minor scratches from bushes or tight parking spots
  • Faded or rough-feeling paint

If you’re unsure, we’re happy to inspect your car and give an honest recommendation.

What Kinds of Scratches Does Paint Correction Remove?

Paint correction removes many scratches, but not all of them. It works best on light to moderate surface scratches that haven’t gone through the clear coat. If you can’t feel the scratch with your fingernail, there’s a good chance we can remove or significantly reduce it. Deeper scratches that penetrate the base coat or metal may require a more advanced repair.

Is Paint Correction the Same as Polishing or Waxing?

Polishing and waxing are great for making your car look shiny, but they’re mostly about improving the surface appearance and don’t actually fix any defects. Paint correction removes a very thin layer of the clear coat, which helps even out scratches, swirls, and other imperfections to restore the paint’s original smoothness. After the paint correction process is complete, we like to add a layer of wax or ceramic coating to protect the newly corrected surface and keep it looking great for longer.

How Long Does Car Paint Correction Last?

Paint correction results can last anywhere from six months to several years, depending on how you care for the vehicle afterward. The correction itself is permanent in the sense that scratches and swirl marks we remove won’t come back. However, new damage can still occur from improper washing, sun exposure, or environmental fallout.
